Roseland Waterpark

We had been wanting to go to Roseland Water park in Canandaigua all summer and for some reason we just couldn't seem to get there....until last Tuesday. It was a very spontaneous trip where I was like "if we don't just go, we aren't going to get there this year". So we went. We got a very late start and didn't get to the park until about 4ish. Which in my mind is the best time to go. There wasn't any crowds or waiting in lines and our car was the last one in the parking lot! Not to mention, admission is $8 less a person if you go after 3pm. So we saved 24 bucks and had the park to ourselves! It was sweet! Iain had a blast and went on a big water slide 3 times in a row! It was one of those family tube rides with a big tube we could all fit in together (Ella too!) She looked terrified at first, but as long as we were saying "WEEEE", she was still laughing! We had a great time together. Our last family day trip before Sean has to go back to school.

Ella stands alone

Ella started standing by herself a couple of weeks ago but I hadn't been able to get a picture until yesterday at the park. Notice the look of concentration on her face as she holds out her little arms to keep her balance. If standing alone were an olympic sport Ella would totally get a gold metal!

Fisher men

Yesterday we took a ride out to Seneca Lake. It was pretty hot out and the plan was to go to the sprayground and then have dinner. When we finally got there (it is an hour away), the sprayground was closed. What a bummer! Instead, we decided to get dinner first, bring it to the park and have a picnic. After dinner Sean and Iain did some fishing while Ella and I played on the grass. Well, actually we played on a blanket since she doesn't really like the grass to be touching her. Eventually it started to rain so Ella and I took shelter in the back of the station wagon (I love having a wagon). Sean and Iain came back to the car empty handed. They didn't catch any fish....even if they did, Sean usually lets them go, I guess they would've been empty handed either way. So our trip was kind of a wash, but we still had a good time!

Ella was so funny playing on this blanket. She kept getting the blanket so messed up that she didn't have room to move without touching the grass. It seemed I was straightening the blanket every 5 seconds. This is her trying to stay on the blanket.

Girls afternoon at the Fair

My Mom wasn't able to go to the Fair with us in the morning because she had a bible study going on at her house. So after Dad and I got home from our trip with the kids, Dad put them down for their naps and I went back to the Fair with my Mom.
We had so much together! We started out our trip on the shuttle bus so we wouldn't have to walk from the parking lot. The bus was a little crowded and we had to stand, but it wasn't horrible. After we got there, we spent most of our time in the buildings looking at a lot of stuff we don't need. We reminisced about all the mops we bought there in the past and never used. We got to look at whatever we wanted and eat when and where we wanted. There wasn't any whining, tired kids (at least not ours) to stress us out and shorten our trip. I was literally at the Fair all day and it was glorious!

A day at the Fair

I love the New York State Fair! Some people would cringe at that thought (including my husband), but I love it just the same. If I lived closer to Syracuse, I would probably go more than once a year....in fact when I lived closer (before I was married), I did go more than once a year. The fair has always been a tradition in my family and I can't remember ever missing a year.

Well, yesterday was my Fair day. In the morning, my Dad and I took the kids over to do whatever they wanted. Iain dictated what he wanted to see and we pushed them to each destination in the stroller. For anyone who has ever been to the fair with a double stroller, you will understand, it can be quite annoying to push one of those things through the crowds. I only ran over one person's foot and in my defense, she was wandering around aimlessly in the middle of the walk way....wake up honey! Anyways, we walked through most of the animal barns, I took Iain on the ferris wheel and we got chocolate milk in the dairy building.

The gate we entered through was right by the cow barn so that was our first stop. Ella loved the baby calves. She kept pointing at them and would baby talk a comment. I assume she was saying she liked them. As we continued through the cow barn, Iain pointed out a really big cow. So I said "hey why don't you get out of the stroller and come over here next to the cow and I will take your picture!" Well that idea was just out of the question. Iain said "Noooo, I don't want to walk over there, there's hay there!" I don't know what the problem is with hay but the picture was taken from the stroller.

It seemed to me like every other vendor was selling cowboy hats (more than usual). Iain didn't get one but he did try one on. It was $15 which seemed kind of steep for a child's hat that he will probably only wear a couple of times. I got a smile for this picture cause I told him to say hee haw. What a cutie!

We had a great time! Thanks Papa, for going with us!

Relaxing bath

The other day, Ella was lucky enough to have a bath all by herself. Usually, she has to share the tub with Iain giving her minimal room to move around and play. But on this particular day, she had plenty of room to crawl around and play with whatever she wanted! She even got in a game of pee-a-boo with her washcloth.... although you can still see her, in her mind, she is playing pee-a-boo.

Webster Village Days

Every year there is a festival in the village of Webster to support local businesses. They close off Main Street for a couple of blocks and many of the businesses put out tents and sell stuff or promote things. This year, we put Ella in the stroller and let Iain ride his bike.... I mean tricycle (he always corrects me if I call it a bike) and off we went! First things first, we had to let Iain jump in the bounce house or never hear the end of it. He was so excited about the bounce house that he couldn't take a nap earlier that day. He laid in bed for an hour and a half and never went to sleep. Luckily, 4 minutes was a sufficient amount of bounce time cause that was all a dollar paid for.

After walking around for a little while, we decided to get some dinner. So we blew 20 bucks on not a lot of food.... which was okay since Sean and I are both on diets. Then we sat in the grass to listen to a band. They were quite enjoyable to listen to. Ella was very distracted by the grass. She didn't want to put her feet on it. As you can see from this picture, if her feet were touching it, she wasn't very happy.... it made me laugh though!

Iain was all over the place. I was wishing he would just sit down and listen, but no, he had to be moving at all times. He sat down on the back of his bike for about 30 seconds, long enough for me to get this cute picture. It makes him look very clam and content but that is just not the case. The lead singer threw candy out for the kids at one point, but Iain didn't manage to get any. That caused a stink.... I had to promise candy when we got home to get him to forget about it. We had some good family time together. Not to many more nights like that left in the summer.

Lower Beverly Lake Township Park

Last week we took a long weekend to go camping with Jude and Aaron and their kids. They had never been camping before and rented a camper for a few days to try it out. We took them to our favorite spot in Canada on Beverly Lake. The kids had so much fun together.... despite the occasional tantrum and the fact that basically, they were dirty from the second we got there, until the second we left (which drove my sister crazy). It was a fun time!

We had some weather issues on Friday.... it rained most of the day. We had decided to go to into Kingston, Ontario that day and spent a good portion of our time there trying to avoid the rain. But the weather was beautiful on Saturday. We took our canoes out to an island where Sean likes to go cliff jumping. We ate lunch on the cliff (don't worry, the kids were nowhere near the edge), and Sean made a few jumps. After returning to the campgrounds, Iain and AJ went fishing with Sean and Aaron. AJ caught his first fish! Way to go AJ! Sean also caught a few good size fish (so I heard), but couldn't manage to keep any of them in the boat! Now he has the ultimate story about "the one that got away".... I'm sure I will hear about it everytime we visit Beverly Lake.

Over all we had a pretty good time. I'm favorite part was hanging out by the fire after the kids were in bed....I'm sure everyone else would agree!
